Steep food prices at highway rest areas around the island have long been the target of complaints from travelers. But an exception can now be found in central Taiwan's Tai-an stop, where you can get a decent pork chop meal for just 50 NT dollars. National highway rest stops have been accused of being too expensive when it comes to food and beverage sales. However, the Tai-an rest stop is just the opposite, offering affordable items such as fried pork chops and rice along with vegetables, and half a tea egg and pickled cabbage for just 50 NT$. Before, this used to cost 90 NT$ but now it is quite affordable. Other items such as pork balls and soup, ground pork and rice and noodles are also quite cheap, and much lower than other rest stations. For example, Hsinchu's Hukou Rest Station has a bowl of noodles for 50 NT$. The Tai-an rest stops offers a similar bowl with half a tea egg for only 30 NT$. Yunlin's Kukeng offers pork ball soup for 50 NT$, and the Tai-an Rest Stop offers the same dish with 3 pork balls and soup for just 20 NT$ which is much like other restaurants. As for foreign dishes such as pasta, they can be had for 100 NT$, as this rest stop is really offering good food at a low price. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
