In an effort to alleviate young couple's burden of daycare cost, the New Taipei City Government is planning to establish four public daycare centers this year, and at least 32 in the near future.

Children under the age of three will be eligible to be admitted to the service, at a monthly fee of 6,000 NT dollars.#

In order to lessen the financial burdens of young couples, the New Taipei City Government will be opening new public daycare centers around the city.

At 6,000 NT per month, the fees are low compared to the cost of personal nannies, who often charge 18,000 NT per month. Each center has a capacity of 75 to 100 toddlers, and disadvantaged families will get first priority.

The New Taipei City Government plans to open at least 32 daycare centers, and four are currently under construction. If all goes as planned, the first four will open by September.

In response to concerns that public daycare centers will have a detrimental effect on private daycare centers, the New Taipei City Department of Social Welfare says that its centers will open in densely populated communities or unused classrooms.

Professional personnel with childcare experience, including nannies, retired teachers, and preschool teachers, will be hired to look after the children.
