CHINESE ARTIST GOING ACROSS BORDERS

Chinese artist Zhan Wang has established his name in the world of art with his stainless steel sculptures, and now he's going across borders by working with Dutch architects in creating a project that is inspired by building blocks. As the first Chinese talent to show his work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Zhan is proving himself once again by incorporating some Asian elements into this new collaborative art piece.

This stainless steel sculpture is a collaboration between a Chinese sculptor and a team of Dutch architects.

The piece was inspired by building blocks and vertical villages, and incorporates 24 distinctive architectural elements including oval shapes, matchboxes, stables, and artificial rockery.

Visitors to the exhibition are therefore free to find their own ideal structural images within.

Zhan Wang is renowned for his stainless steel sculptures, with his stainless steel artificial rock series perhaps the most well-known.

When the Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired one of his sculptures, he became the first Chinese artist to be added into the Met's collection.

He says that this experience has been a most novel one, and that his most recent sculpture is a reflection on modern life.

In addition, Zhan feels that working with architects inspired him to incorporate new elements and facets into his creative process.
