The family of the 22-year-old English teacher, Lindsay Hawker, can finally put this tragic incident behind them, saying that they are satisfied with the ruling, after the 32-year-old killer of Hawker was sentenced to life in prison. Tatsuya Ichihashi, was sentenced to life in prison for raping and murdering the 22-year-old English teacher, Lindsay Hawker, who moved to Chiba in 2006. The victims family, who flew to Tokyo on Wednesday, to see the judge pass sentence on the murderer of their family member, said after the trial that they felt justice was served. Her father, Bill, told journalists, quote, "We've waited four-and-a-half years to get justice for Lindsay. We have achieved that today. We are very pleased." Ichihashi said during the trial that he enticed Miss Hawker into his apartment in March of 2007 to collect money for giving him a lesson earlier in the day. He admitted tying her up and then raping her, but claimed that he killed Hawker accidently while trying to stop her from screaming. Hawker's body was later found in his apartment buried in a bathtub filled with sand. During the two and a half years when Ichihashi was on the run, he underwent cosmetic surgery to change his appearance. However, such attempts eventually led to his arrest after a clinic staff became suspicious and reported him to police. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
