The massive downpours in South Korea have triggered landslides, killing at least 49 people and destroying hundreds of homes. In some areas around Seoul, it is reported that the rain is increasing at a rate of 2 inches an hour, with forecasters saying that there will be more rain today. Authorities have since issued a national crisis warning, with people being evacuated in five neighborhoods on the outskirts of the capital. Even after restoring power for thousands of homes, hundreds are still out of electricity. Soldiers have been called to help with the clean up effort.
