By joining forces and sharing information, the Honduran and Colombian air forces have successfully seized a drug plane, which carried 470 kilograms, or more than 1,000 pounds of cocaine. The Colombian Air Force alerted their counterparts after detecting a suspicious aircraft leaving for Central America, with the Honduran air force seizing the drugs after it landed in Honduras. The new intelligence-sharing deal between Colombia and Honduras, became effective in July, in an effort to "close the Caribbean airspace to drug traffickers."
