Film legend Elizabeth Taylor, who was famed for her beauty and her many marriages, died at the age of 79 from congestive heart failure on March 23. Her charitable efforts, including the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, have continued even after her death. Her valuable jewelry was sold for a shattered record of nearly 116 million US dollars, with proceeds from the auction going to those affected by AIDS.

Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs, counted among the greatest American CEOs of his generation, died due to complications from pancreatic cancer on October 05, 2011 at the age of 56. As a pioneer in the personal-computer industry, Jobs not only changed the way people think about technology, but also changed the way people live.

Amy Winehouse, the Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, died on July 23, at age of 27 from alcohol overdose. She was best known for her beehive hairstyle and distinctive soulful voice. Amy Winehouse was greatly remembered by her fans, as her posthumous album, "Lioness: Hidden Treasures" topped the UK charts immediately after it was released earlier this month.

Best known for his performance in the title role of TV series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", actor Andy Whitfield died at the age of 39 in Sydney, Australia, due to non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

However, despite the losses, we also saw new hopes of life as Hollywood couples embrace several cute newborns last year.David and Victoria Beckham welcomed a new baby girl into the world, adding a daughter to the three sons they already have in their growing family.

Other celebrities who joined the baby boom last year include Natalie Portman, Penelope Cruz, Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, supermodel Miranda Kerr, and Singer Mariah Carey, who welcomed twin babies with her husband Nick Cannon.

And the most surprising new baby was definitely British Actor Hugh Grant's baby girl, who was welcomed by the star and his former love interest, Tinglan Hong on November 1.

Well, if you think that's the end, no, there are more babies arriving next year. Superstar Beyonce, who revealed her pregnancy at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, is expecting her first child with her husband Jay-Z in mid 2012.

Iron Man star Robert Downey, Jr., and his wife Susan are expecting their first child together, due in February, while Hollywood star Bruce Willis and his wife, Emma Heming, are also expecting their first child, due early in 2012.
