Tech gadgets are not the only things that keep getting smaller and pricier. So are bananas. A farmer in Pingtung, southern Taiwan, specializes in growing a breed of extra-small bananas that are low in calories. Despite an unusually high price, they become an instant hit with the ladies.

You probably know that bananas come in different sizes, but have you seen ones this small? Measuring less than one inch long, these mini-bananas seem more suitable for rodents than for human beings. But don't be fooled by their size. They are selling like crazy at three times the price of their more bulky counterparts. And the key lies in their low fattening value.

Compared with regular-sized bananas, these tiny ones are richer in fiber, lower in calories, but tasting just as good. No wonder they quickly become the favorite of many fitness-seeking people. The farmer that introduced this peculiar breed from Japan admits that it takes careful soil conditioning to make the bananas tasty and healthy, and the supply isn't likely to increase anytime soon. So most banana lovers might have to wait a big longer before they can savor this minuscule delicacy.
