Complaints against Taipeis latest energy-saving campaign have been on the rise since its launch last week. Many said that the 26-degree-Celsius lower limit on indoor temperatures has turned their weekend shopping trips into an ordeal. The Taipei City Government said they will reassess this policy and make adjustments soon if necessary.

Early in the morning, there are many people shopping at hypermart.

To keep air condition at 26 degree Celsius, the temperature of refrigerators is lower but the vegetable section of room temperature has a relatively higher temperature.

According to shoppers, it's even hotter when it's holiday or when the venue is packed.

Some believe it's acceptable for the sake of saving electricity.

But many believe the rule is too strict.

The new policy of keeping the indoor temperature at 26 degree Celsius has drawn much criticism and businesses ask for permission to adjust the temperature bar.

The city government says it will decide whether to lower the temperature bar to a flexible range of plus or minus one degree. The decision will be announced in a month.
