Let's first take a look at the weather for you, see what we can expect in the coming days. The Central Weather Bureau is warning residents of southern and eastern Taiwan that potential flooding may occur starting tomorrow if Typhoon Conson heads to the north of Taiwan. As the first typhoon of the season, Conson has been upgraded to a medium-strength typhoon as of Tuesday morning. At 2 a.m. on Tuesday, the first typhoon of the season was upgraded from a tropical storm to a medium-strength typhoon. Typhoon Conson is currently situated 956 kilometers southeast of Hengchun, and is moving east at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour. It is expected to reach the Philippines on Thursday. According to the Central Weather Bureau, Typhoon Conson will move north towards Taiwan if the Pacific high-pressure system weakens after it enters the South China Sea. If this is the case, the eastern and southeastern parts of Taiwan, many of which are still recovering from Typhoon Morakot last year, will have to be on high alert for torrential rains and flooding. As landslides are a huge concern, the CWB is carefully monitoring the storm's progress. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
