Most people are afraid of snakes though firefighters need to overcome this fear ; a group of trainees need to master this skill to become firefighters.
They were in Nantou county's Puli where they were instructed in how to grasp a snake with a snake hook.
One trainee was unexpectedly bitten by a Taiwan stink snake when she put her hand in a nylon bag to retrieve it.
There were two bite marks and blood on her finger as her face also showed a little fear.
A female fire department trainee uses a nylon bag and snatches a 2.6 meter Taiwan stink snake as she suddenly screams as her her fingers were bitten by the snake.
It is really painful, but she tries to keep a calm face and bravely puts the snake back into the nylon bag.
She completes the task by turning the nylon bag and sure enough her right middle finger joint, has two small holes from this snake bite as blood drips.
This group of trainees look on in a line, as this group leader with 30 years of experience uses his snake hook to grasp the snake head as this ferocious cobra seems to listen to him.
He easily puts the cobra away but when a trainee tries to do this task, the cobra is disobedient and t his person becomes scared.
Still to become a firefighter one must be able to overcome the hurdle of handling a snake.
