Call him the Karate Kid of Taiwan, or more precisely, the Taekwondo Kid. A five-year-old boy Liao Chen-yo, who's been learning martial arts ever since he could walk, received the rank of black belt in Taekwondo last month, making his mother very proud.

Although small in stature, Cheng-yo packs a lot of strength and is a force to be reckoned with in the arena.

He fights and moves like a veteran martial artist.

At the age of five, this little boy already has a black belt in Taekwondo.

As this year's Taekwondo tournament didn't include an age group for fighters as young as Cheng-yo, his mother had to register him under adolescent's group, and his rivals all stood about 30cm taller than him.

In the end he became the champion and surprised the judges.

His proud mother says that when Cheng-yo was still in her womb, she saw Taiwanese Taekwondo champion Chu Mu-yen winning gold medal on TV.

It was then that she decided she wanted her kid to grow up learning this style of martial art.

Thanks to his mom's devotion, and his own talent and diligence, the smallest competitor ended up the biggest winner in this year's tournament.

And the sky's the limit for this extraordinary Taekwondo prodigy.
