Good news for the mommies to be.

If you've been checking out the cost of postpartum centers in Taiwan, you are aware of the handful of selections. But how do you choose a place to stay without being bound by restrictions?

The Consumer Protection Commission is here

with a dispute free solution.

Many women check into postpartum centers after giving birth, but costs vary from center to center.

A new standard postnatal care organization and postpartum center contract recently issued by the Consumer Protection Commission limits maximum deposits to 10 percent of total fees and also establishes refund guidelines.

Under the guidelines, centers will be able to keep 10% of the deposit for reservations cancelled 31 or more days before the check-in date, 20% for 21 to 30 days, 30% for two to twenty days, and 50% for one day.

In other words, if the deposit amount is 10,000 NT and the customer cancels her reservation 31 days and one day before her check-in date, the center will be able to keep 1,000 NT and 5,000 NT, respectively.

If the customer cancels on the actual check-in date, she will forfeit her entire deposit.

While the contract provides consumers with more protection, the CPC also reminds everyone to read the fine print in contracts before signing. The contract will go into effect in two weeks.
