We're breaking new grounds again here in Taiwan. 55 new projects have grabbed the trophies at this year's National Invention and Creation Awards.

Let's take a peek at these innovative works that can make our lives easier.

The wooden horse ride for kids can move forward and make tu

rns, thanks to the two extra legs.

This is one of the gold medal winners in this year's National Invention and Creation Awards.

The idea simply came from offering kids more fun and the product can be purchased through mail order in convenient stores.

Also a gold medal winner, the wind-powered electricity generator is made from recycled materials and can produce electricity with wind which comes from all directions.

Its biggest advantage is the minimal noise from wind shear and the cost is cheaper by half than previous models.

The National Invention and Creation Award has received 242 entries this year. 55 of them won either a gold or a silver medal, most of them have practical applications in life.

For example, the garbage can opens automatically when it senses the static electricity of human body, an improved version of the far infrared ray sensor, which fails to work when it gets dirty.

A biomedical project, the cartilage capsulation is a gold medal winner, which enables transplant of one's own cartilage cells to the wound in just one surgery.

The dust collection device produced by local developer improves the noise insulation quality of similar products from abroad.

It's quieter and consumes less electricity.

Many of the patents have great potential in market demand and prove Taiwan's innovation prowess.
