A Taitung County farmer whose rice plantation has garnered three consecutive championships says she looks after her rice field like her own child. She believes that her extra love including singing to them occasionally, are why her produce is extra savory and tasty.

With her soft singing, this 38-year-old farmer by the surname of Chen seems like she's singing a lullaby for her children.

Chen is the proclaimed champion of Taitung district's rice plantations.

The

Chen humbly says there is no secret to growing award-winning rice grains - all it takes is just patience and tender loving care.

She caresses her rice stalks while keeping a vigilant eye out for any abnormalities in water levels or the plantation field.

Chen says that she treats her whole rice field as her own child, and rain or shine, she checks up on its growth.

When she's in a good mood, she will even hum a song, hoping that it might also put her rice field in a positive mood and grow tall and stout.

Take a look at how this award-winning rice turns out after lifting the lid of the rice cooker.

Its savory aroma and chewiness is already satisfying by itself, without any additives

Farmer Chen hopes that those who get a chance to taste her champion rice will feel the warmth and passion that she put into growing her rice.
