In promoting a green environment, the Taipei City Flower Market is holding its "10,000 Flower Prayer Festival" for the 10th year on the Taipei City Flower Market , which is the seventh month according to the lunar calendar. Flowers are substituting the traditional offerings, including the practice of burning incense and ghost money. The Ghost Festival altar is completely covered in flowers. When Taipei City Mayor Hau Lung-pin arrives, he worships with a flaming lily rather than incense. Likewise, the incense burner was created from grass and flowers. For the past ten years, the Taipei City Flower Market has held an annual "10,000 flower prayer festival" during Ghost Month. The event is aimed at making Ghost Month more eco-friendly by replacing incense and sacrifices with flowers. This peach is made from roses, while this banana is made from lilies. Even the duck is made from chrysanthemums. The altar is a sight to behold, but many Taiwanese people say that there is no place for environmental consciousness during Ghost Month, and that they can't worship without incense. Research has shown that burning incense and paper money produce carcinogens and carbon dioxide, but the public refuses to give up the superstitious practice. Nevertheless, the Taipei City Flower Market still hopes to kill two birds with one stone by promoting environmental consciousness while also boosting flower sales during Ghost Month. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
