First lady Christine Chou has since left Taiwan for a five-day trip to visit the children in Haiti and the neighboring Dominican Republic, which are diplomatic allies of Taiwan. First lady Chrisitine Chou was seen wearing a pair of blue jeans and a black top as she was departing for a trip to Haiti and Dominican Republic in her in the capacity of humanitarian ambassador of World Vision Taiwan and honorary chairwoman of the Republic of China Red Cross Society.
The main purpose of her trip is to visit children in need, therefore, she prepared many gifts such as storybooks and sketchbooks and learned to play ocarina in the hope to connect with children through music.
President's elder daughter Lesley Ma also joins the trip that lasts five days and four nights.
During which, they will visit a World Vision Center for homeless children in a part of the Haitian capital as well as an orphanage.
Due to waist injury, the first lady had to delay the trip to Haiti, which was planned to happen in May.
