Kaohsiung City's old train station by the port has recently been listed as an historical site. The Council for Cultural Affairs is planning to build the island's largest railroad cultural center in the area, to make the spot even more appealing.

However, some are worried that it will ruin the original architecture, and are stepping out to the streets to protest.

Dressed as an alien, the protestor is worried that the city government's plan to revitalize the hundred-year-old train station will ruin the historical tracks.

But Kaohsiung City Government said it will not destroy anything and will only build bicycle trails along the train tracks.

Taiwan's Railroad Culture Society, which will take over the culture center, said it hopes that everyone will visit them in the future to understand Taiwan's railroad culture.

The old train station is 102 years old and is the first train station in Southern Taiwan.

It was also once Taiwan's largest goods transport center, which saw Taiwan's economic rise.

Besides a cultural center, the Railroad Culture Society will also keep and display all of its historical documents regarding Taiwan's railroad development here, making this place into Taiwan's largest railroad cultural center.
