Both KMT and DPP candidates running for the Greater Tainan mayoral election have completed their registrations. However, incumbent Tainan mayor Hsu Tian-tsai's intention to race still remains ambiguous, projecting potential threat to split up the DPP votes in Greater Tainan. The DPP's Greater Tainan mayor candidate, William Lai, arrived at the Tainan City Election Commission at 9:30 a.m. on Monday with a group of supporters in tow. Lai was the first candidate to complete the registration process, and later said that he hoped it was a good omen for his campaign. The KMT's Kuo Tian-tsai, who was accompanied by KMT Secretary General King Pu-tsung, completed his registration one hour later at the Tainan County Election Commission. Immediately after leaving the building, Kuo challenged Lai to a public debate. Tainan City Mayor Hsu Tian-tsai has yet to announce whether he will run as an independent candidate, but some within the DPP believe that internal issues within the party could threaten the party's performance in the upcoming elections. Hsu's supporters believe that he will likely register his candidacy sometime later this week, and one of his aides says that all will be revealed by the 17th. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
