Good morning and thank you for tuning in with me on CTS News. I'm Cary Chuo. When it comes to the best school on this island, National Taiwan University usually leaps to mind, but according to the latest university rankings released by the Times of London, National Tsinghua University has dethroned NTU for the first time to claim the No.1 spot in Taiwan. According to the latest The Times rankings of the top 200 universities in the world, Harvard University top the ranks again, where as for Asian schools, Hong Kong University ranked top in the region at number 21 with Tokyo University ranked 26. In Taiwan, National Chinghua University surpassed National Taiwan University at number 107, becoming the number one University in Taiwan. Chinghua University principal Chen Lih Jun said that the ranking reflected the academic excellence of the school in the research field. Of the 4 universities from Taiwan that are in the top 200 rankings, namely, Chinghua University at 107, NTU at 115, ChungShan University at 163 and National Jiao Tung University at 181. NTU was ranked 95 in the same survey last year, the first time it ranked as one of the top 100 universities in the world, however, its ranking dropped 20 notches.
