Despite the threats of Typhoon Fanapi, many couples still insisted on tying the knot yesterday, which according to the Lunar calendar would bring good fortune to newly weds. For the drenched brides and grooms, the extreme weather conditions only made their wedding day all the more memorable.

The strong winds in Pingtung destroyed the old lady's large umbrella. This was a small deal compared to the best men and bride's maids who were soaked.

Everyone worked together to accompany the groom to the hotel to bring back Ms. Huang, who left her family house in Nantou last night.

Local photographers said 18 new couples got married today.

Only 5 couples delayed their ceremony due to the weather.

The other 13 decided to get married on this day. There were also couples getting married in Hualien today.

The most special was this couple, who rented a taxi cab because they couldn't find a limo to rent.

But they still arrived at the hotel happily and received cheers from pass byers.

Bride entourages had to brave level 10 winds in Taitung, where the rain wasn't that strong.

After passing by a serious of road blocks, Mr. Lan arrived at his bride's house and seemed very happy.

Both him and Ms. Lee received close to 200 phone calls yesterday from family and friends who asked if they wanted to change their wedding day.

But, they planned out their wedding close to half a year ago.

Like Mr. Lan said, he was determined to marry his bride no matter how strong the wind or rain was.
