Pet fish owners around Taiwan recently complained about a new measure from the Council of Agriculture, which prohibits the sale of fish medication in aquarium stores and dictates that veterinarians must be consulted instead. Many consider the move highly impractical, and start urging the authorities to give it a second thought. Most fish owner's habit when their fish are sick is to go to pet shop and buy medications to treat them, however, it is illegal as the public needs a prescription from a vet to buy such medication, which worried many fish owners. Pet shops are complaining too as their own fish in the shop are prohibited from treatment on their own for the fine would be from NT#90,000 to NT$450,000. The Bureau of Animal Plants Health Inspection and Quarantine said that it has received many calls recently that aquariums and pet shops were selling medications without vet prescriptions but it is thinking about changing the regulations. Shop owners are worried that it would take a long time for the regulation to change and go into effect. The NTU Animal Hospital Vets said that, it is not hard to cure fish when they get sick, however, it is hard to find Vets specialize in treating fish and need to see the fish personally to treat them. So, as of now, selling medication for fish without prescription is still illegal ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
