Taipei City Mayor Hau Long-bin's idea to develop public housing next to one of Taiwan's most luxurious residences, "The Palace", has received objection from the Ministry of Finance, who believes that further evaluation is required to determine the use of this prime estate. On the other hand, Premier Wu Dun-yi expresses that it's all still too early to know if the project is feasible. Taipei City Mayor Hau Long-bin announced his plan to build public housing in one of the most expensive neighborhood in the city few days ago. The land is now the command headquarters of R.O.C. Air Force, which will become a nation-owned property under the administration of the National Property Administration, Ministry of Finance after the air force headquarters move to a new site in May of 2011. Mayor Hau said that Taipei City government is in the middle of discussion with the Ministry of Finance to exchange the city-owned property with the nation-owned property, in hope to construct the public and youth housings, which are available for rent only. However, the Minister of Finance, Lee, Sush-Der, has openly expressed his objection over Hau's proposal, saying that the expensive property, which is located in the heart of Taipei City, should be used for a more suitable project. In response to Mayor Hau's plan, Premier Wu Dun-yi also said that it's yet too early to make any conclusion, since the Executive Yuan hasn't received formal proposal from the Taipei City government. While the central government seems to hold a different opinion over Hau's plan, many people express their approval over the project. They believe the public housing will be helpful in lowering the average pricing of land in the area since living in Taipei City is becoming an unaffordable dream. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
