Despite falling temperatures, 132 new cases of Dengue fever have been reported in southern Taiwan last week.

In order to prevent future outbreaks, the Department of Health will be setting up a central epidemic command center in the next two days.

Although temperatures have fallen with the arrival of fall, Dengue fever cases are still on the rise in southern Taiwan.

Outbreaks have occurred in Kaohsiung City's Sanming and Kushan areas, and Department of Health workers are sterilizing many parts of the city with particular attention to empty houses.

The Centers for Disease Control says that it will be setting up a central epidemic command center and subsidiary centers in Kaohsiung and Tainan in the next few days.

As both the number of indigenous and imported cases this year are at five-year highs, resources will be integrated to get the situation under control.
