A renovation project is underway at the Taipei Songshan Airport, forcing passengers for both domestic and international flights to use the same terminal for the time being. Travelers are advised to be prepared for the inconvenience involved. Holding a microphone, Minister of Transportation and Communications Mao Chi-guo personally explained the changes. The brand new passenger way is built as part of the renovation project for the Songshan Airport. Starting from October 27th, international travellers who were supposed to arrive at terminal 2 are now switched to the east wing of terminal 1. In order to not influence domestic travellers, there's a glass wall separate domestic and international travellers. Since the Songshan and Haneda direct service will begin at the end of October, the terminals have built new air bridges. According to the terminal staff, arriving passengers would be able to get their luggages within 20 minutes of arrival. But there are only three immigration counters for international arrivals, and two security detection gates. This is already insufficient even during off-peak hours. Minister Mao Chi-guo says the improvement project began since this March and it is estimated to accommodate 1.8 million passengers each year by the end of this year. After the whole renovation project completes in next September, the airport would have a capacity of 3.38 million passengers each year. Therefore, he hopes passengers can tolerate the transitional period. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
