The Wenhu MRT line experienced electrical malfunction on Wednesday morning, during rush hour, at 7:40 am, delaying passengers' schedule for almost one hour. Shortly after, the Danshui MRT line also encountered a similar situation, and it took 30 minutes before the system was back in service. During peak hour on Wednesday morning, both the Wenhu and Danshui MRT lines suffered breakdowns. One Taipei resident who was taking a Japanese friend on an one-day tour of the city had to rearrange their entire schedule, while a student walked 20 minutes from Guting Station to Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Station to make it to class, only to find that both lines were down. An electrical malfunction occurred at 7:40 a.m. between Huzhou Station and Dahu Park Station, forcing all trains running between Jiannan Road Station and Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station to come to a standstill. The Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation sent shuttles to stations, and the line resumed operations at 8:40 a.m. Shortly afterwards, an electrical malfunction occurred on the Danshui line, affecting all trains running between Taipower Building Station and Taipei Main Station.
