Cyclist Hsiao Mei-yu picked up the first medal for Taiwan in Asian Games this year, finishing third in women's 500 meter time trial. Actually she is no stranger to such an achievement, being the silver medalist four years ago in Doha. Her family and friends back home are all excited about her latest victory.

The woman in the picture is Hsiao Mei-yu, 25 years old, who is the first medal winner of Taiwan in the 2010 Asian Games.

She is known to be a joyful girl and has been practicing cycling every day for 8 hours for the past decade.

Her strong thighs are the evidence of her hard-work and the key to her achieving her dream.

In the beginning of the year she also went to Dubai to attend the preliminary round and got the eligibility to the Asian Games.

As for her family, all she has left is her brother, then its her mentor and her mentors wife, who have been treating her as their own.

Since her father passed away when she was seven, her mother then left her when she was 15, she and her brother have been staying at the players lounge that is only 10 pings big.

But despite her hardship, she has always been happy.

Since she was in high school, she has been supporting herself and her brother by getting scholarships.

When Ms Hsu, her mentors wife talks about Hsiaos hardship, she is saddened by her difficult upbringing, but also glad for her success and so is everyone in Taiwan.
