Kaohsiung's Chiaotou Township has opened 60 hectares of land for the planting of sunflowers and chrysanthemums.

This area is now available to people to visit as there is also a special flower fairy activity that adds to the festive atmosphere of the event.

These balloons rise slowly as it announces Chiaotou's flower season on this 60 hectare plot of land that is filled with yellow, purple, and red flowers.

Viewed from afar, its like the a rainbow and looks great set against the blue sky.

Children are playing in the fields as they cannot help being amongst these flowers as many come to smell their fragrance, touch them, and take photos.

This leads many to take lots of photos.

There is yet another surprise as there are these flower fairies who wear beautiful flower hats to celebrate this grand event.

In addition to the beautiful flower fairies the general public can experience other activities such as house carrying.

With the sound of a gong, everyone grabs some bamboo and lifts the house onto their shoulders and move it to a location which is not flooded.

Locals can lift the house higher with these poles and they can also carry it as the water rises.

This activity draws the interest of many people as the flower show goes from the 4th to the 12th of December.

During this period, everyone is invited to Chiaotou to enjoy the sunshine and these wonderful flowers.
