With less than two weeks left before the major city-county mergers, government employees in Taichung are now busy packing their boxes in preparation of moving to the new offices. But considering the overwhelming amount of documents to be processed, it is still unclear at this point whether the transition will be completed by the 26th as scheduled. Some staff members of the Department of Cultural Affairs are still working while others are packing documents to be sent to the new city administration building. In the morning, staff members of departments and bureaus of the Taichung City Government have begun packing, hoping the moving work can be done before the 25th when the city and county government officially merge and upgrade. But during the transitional period, some employees are working at the new building to sort out documents and they are not confident if the task can be done before the 25th. Taichung City Government plans to move the offices in four different segments from December 13th. The offices of departments and bureaus will be located in the new city administration building, the Yangming building, Taichung Prefecture and Taichung City Council. The first Taichung special municipality mayor will be sworn in at the new city administration building. Therefore, the moving has to be done before the 26th and the city government employees are officially to work in the new office building on the 27th. Employees of the city and county governments need to get used to the change.
