Starting this year, the top prize for the Uniform Invoice Lottery has leaped from 2 million NT dollars to 10 million, causing a significant decrease in the public's willingness to give their invoices away to social welfare groups. And some lawmakers have already proposed that the authorities should assess its impact on invoice donation in six months time and then decide whether the rules should be changed.

When shopping at convenient stores, there are boxes next to the cashier to collect receipts. It's a common habit for many to donate the receipts.

But the cash award of the top prize is raised from 2 to 10 million NTD.

Would you still donate receipts?

When asked the question, people have extreme opinions.

The lucrative cash award also bothers social welfare groups which depend on the funds generated from these receipts.

The Genesis Social Welfare Foundation collected more than 100 million receipts in a year throughout Taiwan.

Once, it also won the top prize of 2 million NTD.

But the amount of receipts donated has reduced by half in some stores in Xinchu County and City after the cash prize is raiase.

For Eden Social Welfare Foundation, the award money each year from the receipt lottery reached 5 million NTD. They also worry about the trned of getting less receipts.

According to the foundation, it aims to address the needs of the physically, mentally or developmentally challenged individuals and elders. The money from the income is an important source of funds.

Now the Eden Social Welfare Foundation is working with major online bookstores and encouraging the public to donate e-receipt when shopping online.
