After a year-long survey, the Council of Cultural Affairs recently released a list of 154 items of aboriginal cultural heritage recommended by scholars, which will provide the basis for future preservation works. The Paiwan tribe and Lukai tribes nose flute is unique to those two tribes, which was traditionally only for the royalties to play, while the peasants can only play the flute that is performed by blowing with mouth. It is under the list of indigenous cultures that need to be preserved. The Bunon tribe 8-part harmony is also listed. One person who studies the singing method with elders in the tribe since young is now a grandpa, who is determined to teach the younger generation how to sing in this style. Scholars were asked by the Council for Culture Affairs to spend a year documenting and research to select 154 indigenous cultures that needs to be preserved, of which 27 are non-tangible.
