Controversial bestselling novelist Giddens Ko showed his support for the anti-Kuokuang Petrochemical campaign by joining a sit-in protest at the Changhua Railway Station last Friday. As a native of Changhua, Ko emphasized that it is his hope to protect his homeland from industrial pollution. On the last week just before the lunar spring festival, several people have set up tents to stage a sit-in demonstration in front of Chuanghua train station. Among the demonstrators, one person stuck out as a familiar face. He is author Gidden Ko, a native resident of Chuanghua County. In addition to Gidden Ko, several medical practioners and artists who reside in Chuanghua county have took up arms to oppose the Kuokuang Petrochemical development in the area and protect their hometown. The demonstration has attracted quite a bit of attention from visitors and the support of a group of high school students from Taichung county, who joined in the demonstration without hesitation. Gidden Ko has invited several environmentalists to join in on the anti-Kuokuang Petrochemical sit-in demonstration, which lasted for three consecutive days. They have stated that the health of the public, wetlands, and the Chinese white dolphins are invaluable. As long as Kuokuang Petrochemicals keep pushing their agenda, the demonstrators will continue their protests. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
