After a thorough medical evaluation on the health condition of the former first lady, Wu Shu-chen, the doctors have decided that Wu is unfit for imprisonment. President Ma Ying-jeou said that the entire procedure is in accordance with the constitution, and promised that there won't be any political interference in this trial. DPP Chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen also spoke out, and said that people should not make any political connections about this case.

After being evaluated by 14 doctors at China Medical University Hospital, the ex-first lady, Wu Shu-chen, has been determined that she is 'unfit to take care of herself' and 'may cause further damage to her health if left uncared for' and has been released and returned to her home in Kaohsiung.

This decision caused some complaints among the public, but President Ma insisted that all has been done according to law.

To further explain this situation, the Ministry of Justice also held a press conference in the afternoon, denying the accusation made by KMT legislator, Chiu Yi, that the minister, Zheng Yong-fu, changing the prison warden right before the medical evaluation of Wu to make sure that the ex-first lady does not get admitted into prison.

The DPP chairwoman, Tsai Ing-wen, said that to restrict Wu's freedom of movement is a 'humane' punishment.

KMT legislator and the Ministry of Justice also reassured the public that there is no premeditated plans in this decision, and that everything was done according to the court of law.
