A group of dispatched workers assigned to manual labor at the National Taiwan Sport University accused their employer of exploitation in a press conference yesterday, claiming that their salaries have been unfairly deducted on a regular basis. A DPP legislator therefore demanded the authorities to conduct a nationwide review of labor dispatch agencies to protect the rights of workers.

Mr. Shen has been working landscaping for National Taiwan Sport University for 10 years.

In 2008, this work was subjected to bidding from outside contractors and he soon began to work for this company.

Still, he was unable to receive the 30,000 NT$ a month that was the minimum amount written into the contract with the subcontractor.

From 2008-2010, he was required to required to return 2,000 NT$ to the company, and this year is even worse as they are asking to give back 5,800 NT$ a month.

When he asked why he should give back the money, he was fired.

The university investigated and confirmed these violations, promising to send workers to help solve the problem.

However, legislator Pan Meng-an pointed out that this was not an individual case as the Council of Labor Affairs and Ministry of Education,

should more actively investigate these subcontractors and ensure the rights of all 720,000 workers at national universities.
