A group of Carrefour workers have delivered their petition to the Council of Labor Affairs, saying that the hypermarket has demanded them to work overtime without giving them compensation.

They are even accusing the company for deliberately firing a labor union officer.

Despite the rain, there are protestors outside of the Council of Labor Affairs.

They are all employees of Carrefour.

They say the company has asked them to work overtime, but does not provide them overtime pay. This is the reason they are delivering a petition to the CLA.

Employee dissatisfaction led employees to form a trade union in June of last year.

They had a consultation with their employer, and the results were not good as the Carrefour's Shilin Branch union leader was fired.

Lunar New Year is almost here, and the hypermarket will stay open for 24 hours without a break.

Upon learning of this situation, the CLA is going to fine Carrefour repeatedly. In New Taipei City alone, Carrefour, was fined 4 times by the local government last year, accumulating more than 150,000 NT$ in fines.

Authorities stressed that they will continue to monitor labor situation and investigate on it.

However, this company doesn't seem to worry about the fines, leading many to question the local government's authority.
