The 94-year-old historic architecture in the Rixin Elementary School is slowly deteriorating, but with the help of its alumni, the old building will soon have its original appearance back. The same kind of red bricks developed during the Japanese colonization period will be used to restore the traditional structure. Located in the Datung District of Taipei City, the Rixin Elementary School was built in 1917. The former public school for boys is beautiful. But after renovation and additions, many buildings on the campus become more modernized. Only the ancient 125-meter red-building remains, which becomes the biggest feature on the campus. To preserve the historic building, alumni sponsor the renovation project, which is to restore the building's original look with traditional techniques. The Tsai Family of Want-Want group plans to spend 60 million NTD on the renovation project. One of the family's factories near the Keelung harbor actually used the same batch of red bricks. The renovation project is estimated to be complete before the end of October. By then the ancient building would restore to its past beauty. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
