The Taipei Songshan Airport is about to have a brand new look after the completion of its renovation project early next year. But that means the Pegasus clock tower, which served as the airport's architectural landmark for decades, may soon be history.

The Pegasus clock tower of the Taipei International Airport may soon be taken down along with a complete renovation of the airport.

The Department of Urban Development is planning an entirely new layout of the airport surroundings.

Currently, the organization has already started the selection process to choose the company to outsource the designs.

Meanwhile, the clock tower landmark will most likely be torn down as it will no longer fit the new surroundings and renovations.

According to the administration's plans, the front gates of the Taipei International Airport will focus on the theme of "cooling island fever" while more water fountains and greenery will be installed to invoke an imagery of environmental protection.

The current wall will also probably be taken down.

The whole renovation project is estimated to take 20 million NT dollars, and the project is expected to start in the latter half of this year.

Hopefully by the beginning of next year, the new facade of Taipei International Airport will be ready.

However, given that passengers will be going through the airport, the renovation process may meet difficulties along the way.
