Tainan City Hsu Tien-tsair won the legislative seat with 49,000 votes, beating out his rival KMT Chen Shu-hui by a great margin. The DPP is celebrating its big win, which has marked a new record for the party. Outside the campaign headquarters of Hsu Tien-tsair, long strings of firecrackers were set off to celebrate the victory and supporters were overjoyed. DPP's candidate of the legislative by-elections in greater Tainan City Hsu Tien-tsair thanked the voters and the campaign efforts of DPP heavyweights, saying it's a record-breaking victory. Hsu also announced his bid to join the legislative primary of the DPP and asked for continuous support from voters. On the other hand, KMT candidate Chen Shu-hui encouraged her campaign operatives when she learned of her loss and she felt so sorry for the voters who suppported her. She became teary when cheering up her campaign staff. When asked whether she would join the next legislative election, Chen said it's not the time to think about it. According to the information from the Tainan City Election Commission showed that the DPP candidate for the city's Fourth Electoral District, Hsu Tain-tsair, garnered 49,002 votes compared with his KMT rival Chen Shu-huei's 30,504 votes.
