When will the mainlanders be able to come to Taiwan without

limitations and constraints? A negotiation on the tourism issue will be held in Hong Kong next Thursday, in which the first step is to allow individuals to travel independently to outlying islands such as Kinmen, Matsu and Penghu starting this April.

After Taiwan lifted the ban on Chinese tourists, famous scenic attractions across Taiwan are packed with them.

According to the statistics of the Tourism Bureau, last year, Chinese tourists brought enormous business opportunities worth 92.8 billion NTD.

To negotiate with the deal to allow solo Mainland Chinese visitors, China National Tourism Administration Director, Shao Qiwei, came to Taiwan with a delegation of travel agents for site visits. It is said the government would allow solo Chinese visitors in different stages.

In the initial stage, outlying islands such as Kinmen, Matsu and Penghu would be the first to accept individual Chinese tourists starting in April with a ceiling of 500 independent Chinese tourists per day.

The visa would expire 3 months after the insurance and the maximum stay is 15 days.

But no agreements have been reached on the deposit issue.

That's why tourism associations of the two sides are having a meeting on March 17 in Hong Kong to negotiate the details.

Since Chinese visitors have great consumption power, travel agent associations are positive about the prospect of Taiwan's tourism market.
