With the traffic set to be hectic over the National Tomb Sweeping Day weekend, the Taipei Railway Administration and Taiwan High Speed Rail are offering additional services for commuters traveling during this period.

The National Highway is expected to be congested with 2.4 million vehicles over the long weekend, and to ease the flow, the Taiwan Area National Freeway Bureau is allowing toll-free travel from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. until April 5th.

In anticipation of the four-day long weekend of the Ching Ming Festival, traffic started picking up on Friday afternoon, and certain sections of the freeway started to see signs of congestion.

The Taiwan Area National Freeway Bureau predicts that in the afternoon of April 2, traffic congestion will continue on in the south while the peak of the traffic congestion will fall on April 5.

As a reminder, starting from April 2 to 5, from 12 AM to 7, various freeway routes will suspend toll collection.

Travelers can take advantage of this and avoid traffic congestion.

Ramps will also be strictly controlled and travelers are urged to comply with regulations.

Meanwhile the Taipei Railway Administration and the THSR are also increasing the number of trains to accommodate the travelers for the long-day weekend.

One of the Taipei Rail routes has already sold all tickets.

As for the THSR, 75% of the seats during the peak hour period have already been sold.

The unsold tickets are non-assigned seats.

However, travelers are encouraged to buy their tickets earlier to avoid delays in their travel plans.
