The special admission distribution program for 5-year colleges started yesterday, which allows around 7,400 applicants to get enrolled in colleges across the island without taking tests.

As usual, public schools such as National Taipei College of Business remain the top choice for students, with more than 300 students vying for 123 spots.

National Taipei College of Business student activity center was packed with potential students and their parents to participate in the test-free admission distribution.

At 9am sharp, students line up according to their performance in school as they went up on stage to select the major they are interested in.

The first person to go on stage was Lee Ya Hsing from PingXi junior high of New Taipei City.

More than 300 students at the center are all ranked in top 15% of their junior high, however, the National Taipei College of Business is only offering 123 spots for test free admission, about 200 people are going home disappointed. As more spots are filled, more and more people who have not gone onto the stage are worried.

The whole process took 40 minutes to complete, while the school said that other students can still apply for regular admission. Those ranked in the top 15% and those with a PR value of 85 or more in the national basic competence test or the joint Keelung, Taipei and new Taipei test are welcome to apply; the admission will be a random drawing of all those qualified.
