As a part of the celebration of Taiwan's centennial year, the Ministry of National Defense has published a comic book of the nation's military history. But the DPP legislators are now questioning the substance and the intention of the book. The work fails to include the contribution of the two former presidents, Lee Tung-hui and Chen Shui-bian, while focusing on President Ma Ying-jeou's administration. Ministry of National Defense has come up with a comic book on the development of national army and its founding history as part of the effort to celebrate the country's centenary. The stories also cover the recent transformation of the army functions, such as disaster rescue missions in the 88 flooding and the mountain collapse over freeway. While there are no details on the 20 years when former president Lee Tung-hui and Chen Shui-bian were in office, there are quite a few pages about President Ma. Questioning the Ministry's effort to suck up to the president, DPP legislators criticized the comic book is intolerable and asked the Ministry to re-edit the whole book. In its defense, the ministry responds that the form of how comic books and text are presented is entirely different and political speculation is not necessary. Opposition lawmakers are to require the Control Yuan to review the case of the comic book, this is definitely something that caught the Ministry of National Defense off guard. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
