The Taipei Public Library is certainly making lives easier for readers with its newly established 24-hour vending machines. With a swipe of a card, people can borrow, return or even renew the readings at their convenience.

It looks like a vending machine and rotates every 5 minutes. It is completely filled with books and one can select them from a touch screen and a library card.

Simply enter the number and you can get a book. This is the first 24-hour automatic book station in Taipei.

It not only allows people to borrow books, but one can also renew books, and return books.

Using this advanced technology, each book has a label containing information.

The machine can hold 400 books, and it has the hottest books on the market, as it can operate 24 hours a day.

Now, Taipei has 2 automated book centers with citizen able to use smart cards to borrow books.

The Ximen Station every year lends out 10,000 books.

If this 24-hour library service gets a good response, more may appear in the future.
