Many people, especially housewives, may have noticed that fruit prices have increased during the past few days. The price of guava has increased from 23 NT dollars per catty to 28, while the price of banana has increased from 12 NT dollars per catty to 22. We find that this could be associated with the recent plasticizer panic, for people now prefer eating natural food products rather than processed ones, causing fruit prices to soar. Ms. Xie is shopping at the fruit market, trying to buy some fruits back home to back fresh juice. She picked up some mangos, and a pineapple. But she was surprised to know that mango cost a lot more than she expected. As for the gentleman here, he bought some litchis and apples, which totally cost 700 NT dollars. For the past few days, the price of mangos has been increased from 50 NT dollars to 109 NT dollars per catty, while price of bananas has been raised from 12 NT dollars to 22 NT dollars per catty. Guava price has been increased from 23 NT dollars to 28 NT dollars per catty, and even pineapple price has nearly doubled from 10 to 18 NT dollars per catty. Ms. Xie told us that she wanted to make some fresh juice with these fruits, since the plasticizer containing products were everywhere. The fruit store owners said that the average price for fruits has been increased by around 20 percent, comparing with the same period last year. They believe that it has something to do with public's panic over the plasticizer scandal, making the public turn to fresh fruits or juice. It is, however, very ironic that fruit stores may be the only one who benefited from the plasticizer panic. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
