CUPCAKE ATM, A 24-HOUR SUGAR FIX

綜合報導

Slide in your credit card and tap on the touch screen of this bubblegum pink colored ATM machine to get your favorite dessert, anytime of the day at Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills, California. The robotic arm can be seen through the screen of the 24-hour dispensing machine, which reaches into the store to pull out the cupcake of your choice.

If you're worried about the quality of the treat that's individually boxed, you don't have to, because IT director Vineet Chaplot reassures that it's just as good.

Vineet Chaplot: "We restock continuously throughout the day and night. We remove everything when we're restocking so there's nothing left from before. It is as fresh as coming into the store and getting a cupcake yourself. It's more so about convenience for our customers and making sure that we give them the exact same product that they're used to from Sprinkles."

Chaplot explains that the founder was the one who came up with this brilliant idea.

Vineet Chaplot: "The concept actually came to our owner, Candace Nelson, while she was pregnant. She had a cupcake craving so she decided, wouldn't it be great if she could go someplace where she could get a freshly baked cupcake at any time. So the idea was born and here we are today with the world's first machine that allows you to actually come at any time 24 hours a day to get a freshly baked cupcake."

How are the local sweet tooths reacting to the first of its kind in the country?

Pam Singer: "I think if I was out I might stop by on my way home. I don't know that I'd come out at 3 o'clock or 4 o'clock in the morning because I'm not of that age anymore. But I'm sure that my daughter will stop by with her friends quite often."

Heather Singer: "I know that my friends and I love the cupcakes and being able to come any time of day, especially late at night."

With approximately eight flavors to choose from, each freshly baked cupcake will cost you $4. The ATM machines, which can hold up to 600 of them, are expected to take other cities by storm, including New York, Chicago and Washington D.C.
