To save money, more and more individuals are having their ears pierced using tools purchased from the Internet, or getting it done at the night markets for a cheaper price. However, doctors are warning the public that these procedures should be done at clinics with sterilized needles, to prevent suffering from infections due to poor hygiene. It would only take minutes for anyone to get some home ear piercing tools from the Internet and finish piercing in minutes with no trainings needed. Some Taipei City councilmen criticized that those tools should not be allow for selling on the Internet. However, since ear piercing is not considered a medical procedure, there are no laws prohibiting those home kits being sold or even piercing services offered off the street or at night markets. The most that Health Bureau can do is to promote sterilization before piercing. Doctors pointed out that, dirty needles would cause infection, keloids or even cellulitis for they have seen more and more such cases in recent years. In fact, most dermatological clinics and cosmetic surgery clinics offer ears piercing service. According to a survey by the Taipei United Hospital, only 59 people received such service in the past 5 years. The cost at clinics would be NT$560 per hold, which is NT$60 to even NT$400 more compare to the service charged at shops at night markets, which may the reason so few people received the service at hospitals. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
