Two comic book artists from Taiwan recently broke into the Japanese market and received rave reviews for their works, which proves that Taiwan's comic book industry is maturing after decades of dominance by Japanese manga.

Literally translated as "Monster Teases Warrior", the comic book features characters with big rolling eyes and a sweet style that fascinates Japanese readers.

With the single volume edition, emerging comic artist Oong Chi-chang becomes the first Taiwanese to have his work published in a Japanese computer game magazine.

The 30-year-old who graduated from National Taiwan University says there are still a lot to learn if he wants to earn a place in the Japanese market.

Comic magazine JUMP has the biggest circulation in Japan.

It first published works from a foreign artist in June.

Taiwanese comic artist Peng Jie was the lucky one.

When analyzing the reasons of his being chosen, Peng contributes to the retro and innovative drawing styles.

Local comic experts believe the biggest problem of Taiwan's comic industry is the lack of ability to develop long stories.

While Taiwanese comic artists successfully made it in the Japanese market, it is hoped that more comic books from local artists can be seen in the market.
