"Formosa Mambo", directed by Wang Qi-zai, is currently in development. Starring award-winning actor Qu Zhong-heng, the storyline revolves around the scam organizations in Taiwan. With 80 percent of its scene based in Kaoshiung, and 50 percent of the crew consisted of broadcasting students, it will allow the audience to acknowledge the wonders of the south, while providing a hands-on experience for film students. In this scene, the police have called a press conference to announce that they have cracked a major scam organization. "Formosa Mambo" depicts many ploys used by such organizations, and the director hopes that the film can help educate the public and prevent them from falling prey to scams. Of the 40 crewmembers, 20 are broadcasting students. Through their participation in the project, they are able to familiarize themselves with film sets and equipments. The film therefore holds educational value for them, and is helping to cultivate the next generation of filmmakers. "Formosa Mambo" is one of many films to be shot on location in Kaohsiung recently.
