Before you place the fruits on the offering table, make sure you are aware that there are some do's and don'ts when it comes to worshipping for the Ghost Festival. What kind of fruit is not suitable for this particular occasion? Let's find out here on CTS. The Ghost Festival takes place on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, and tents can be found lining Huwei Street in preparation for the afternoon's worshipping activities. While many have prepared fruits for ghosts, there is a local folk custom that says bananas, pears, and pineapples can't be placed on sacrificial tables at the same time. There are those that believe in this custom and others that don't, but many fruit vendors are worried about sales. At the same time, particular types of fruit, including longans, are selling particularly well. Given the superstitious nature of the festival itself, it comes as no surprise that there are also many superstitions attached to the festival. Traditionally, worshippers present ghosts with sacrifices of fish, meat, and fruit. Some believe, however, that sincerity is most important and that there shouldn't be any restrictions on sacrifices. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
