The 2010 Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival has come to an end after 9 days of exhibition. However, the event is facing public questioning for not being cost-effective, for having poor designs and for ruining the lawn in the area.
In response to the criticism, the Taichung City Government says that the outcome was better than expected, economically.
2010 Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival finally ends last Sunday, which have attracted more than 140,000 visitors during its 9-day exhibition.
However, as the workers working hard to clean the field after the exhibition, many people are questioning Taichung city government whether this event is cost-effective.
The lawn that was covered with flowers is left muddy and ruined now because of the heavy rain throughout the exhibition.
The exhibition route is also very muddy after numerous tourists have treaded on it spreading mud all over the area.
It takes one and a half day to clean up the mud and will take two more weeks to recover the lawn.
A Taichung city counselor says that the city government should have planned better to limit the impact on the environment.
However, responding to the criticism, Taichung city government says the flowers will be reused for Environmental Beautification in more than 200 places and the 13-million-NT-dollar event has exceeded their expectation. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
